From autumn 2020, David Bade will dive into the world of six special groups and clubs in Heerlen. For instance, he made new work in the mental health organisation Mondriaan, he may soon be training with the football club RKSV Groene Ster, he danced with the breakdancers of HFC and he delved into the world of the Pink Perill Roller Derby. From Monday 12 to Friday 23 December 2022, Bade will meet the people behind Cultura Nova. He will talk to the many volunteers who make this festival possible year in, year out.

About Cultura Nova

Cultura Nova is a large International visual theatre festival organised annually in Heerlen and its surroundings. In 2022, the festival included 85 different companies from home and abroad, presenting more than 350 cultural activities for young and old in 10 days, including 14 premieres, 22 co-productions in Heerlen and Parkstad and even across the border in Aachen. In front of and behind the scenes of the festival, 600 employees - a significant part of them volunteers - ensured an unforgettable edition. The festival attracted over 73,000 visitors. The next edition of Cultura Nova will be from Friday 25 August to Sunday 3 September 2023.

In front of the public/ Come and see!

From 12 to 23 December, Bade will hold a public studio in the former boxing school and sex cinema at Akerstraat 15. He will be working there during the day, excluding weekends. Curious? Anyone who finds it interesting to see how Bade works or "just" wants to have a chat is welcome!

David Bade tekent Heerlen onder de tafel

David Bade and SCHUNCK have a lifelong collaboration. This means that throughout his life, Bade regularly returns to Heerlen to draw diverse Heerlen people in ever-changing settings and environments. These works are added to the municipal collection managed by SCHUNCK. This creates an image archive that records the DNA of Heerlen. Read more about 'David Bade draws Heerlen under the table' here.
