SCHUNCK presents new exhibitions

Werk van Lizzie Veldkamp

In the run-up to the major exhibition Andy Warhol: Vanitas in September, SCHUNCK is presenting quite a few other presentations at various places in the building in the coming period. From 7 April, Jean Tinguely's 'Shuttlecock' and a new edition of Dreaming Out Loud will be on show.

Jean Tinguely

The sculpture 'Shuttlecock' can be seen as a 'frozen explosion' made up of the parts of a racing car, which squeaks and creaks as soon as it is set in motion. Jean Tinguely is internationally known for his moving and self-destructing machines that produce a spectacle of movement and sound. The artist was fascinated by aimless movement and maniacal speed, and thus the race track. For three years - from 1988 until his death in 1991 - Tinguely designed the sidecars and racing suits of his friend and racing driver René Progin. The 1988 sidecar was disassembled into the famous sculpture 'Shuttlecock'.

Also from 7 April, a new edition of 'Dreaming Out Loud' can be seen, with which SCHUNCK offers a stage to young architects and visual artists from Limburg and the Euregion. This spring it is Lizzie Veldkamp's turn. Veldkamp has a penchant for construction sites and the consequences of urban transition in public space. Veldkamp shows the results of her ongoing research into this in a new series of works at SCHUNCK.

Also currently on view at SCHUNCK Museum is the Bernardinus College's final-year exhibition, the exhibitions in the Art Depot and in the town hall the exhibition 'The collection from then to now to ever'.
