After the successful exhibition 'In for life: 10 years of David Bade in Heerlen' this winter, the SCHUNCK museum gallery is closed from 11 March due to renovation work. This closure will last until mid-September, when the exhibition Andy Warhol: Vanitas

The six-month closure does not mean that there is nothing to see at SCHUNCK Museum. Thanks to the multiple exhibition spaces the Glaspaleis has to offer, there is still plenty on offer until mid-September.

Art Depot

In the Art Depot, for instance, you can see 'The selection of... ' until 7 April, in which provincial governor of Limburg Emile Roemer exhibits his selection from the SCHUNCK collection. In the other exhibition rooms of the Art Depot, you can see SCHUNCK's first own selection (until 8 September). This selection is the start of a series in which a different part of the collection is highlighted each time. This edition focuses on the theme 'looking'.

If you don't mind walking a few streets, you can admire another selection from the SCHUNCK collection at the Heerlen town hall, in the exhibition 'The collection from then to now to ever'.  In the Aad de Haas gallery, 'Forget the rules', the Bernardinuscollege's final-year exhibition, in which the students have been inspired by 'In for life: 10 years of David Bade in Heerlen', opens on 28 March.

April and beyond

A new edition of 'Dreaming Out Loud', which SCHUNCK uses to offer a stage to young talent, is on show at the beginning of April. This time Lizzie Veldkamp shows her work with a quirky installation. In the Atrium, you can see 'Shuttlecock', one of Jean Tinguely's famous works, from the beginning of April. This 'frozen explosion', consisting of the parts of a racing car, is essentially all about movement. Also opening at the end of April is Ukrainian artist Alevtina Kakhidze's exhibition of drawings, installations, videos and a performance, on display in the store window and on the second floor of the Glaspaleis. This also includes the works of several Ukrainian artists, on display in St Pancratius Church.

Besides these various exhibitions, there are many other events and activities at SCHUNCK in the coming months. Check the event calender for the current offer.
