Publication Gluckauf on sale now
On 16 April, the exhibition Gluckauf by Bertien van Manen opened at SCHUNCK. At the same time, the publication of the same name with photographs by Van Manen not previously published in book form was released.
This publication presents a collection of photographs taken by Bertien van Manen in various mining towns: Wakefield and New Sharlston, Yorkshire (United Kingdom, 1970s), Most (Czech Republic, 1980s), the Appalachian Mountains (United States, 1980-1990s), and Apanas, Siberia (Russia, 1990).
Author Marcia Luyten (Het Geluk van Limburg, 2018) interviewed Bertien van Manen especially for this publication. The result is a particularly personal portrait of Bertien, aptly expressing her childhood and her relationship to Heerlen - including the miners' life.
Gluckauf is published in cooperation with Fw: Books and is distributed by Ideabooks. The publication is also available in the museum shop at SCHUNCK.
