Mural In2YourPlace X SCHUNCK unveiled

On Friday 20 May, a mural created by young people as part of a collaboration between SCHUNCK and In2Yourplace was unveiled.

The Keith Haring-style painting can be admired at OutPoet, the recently festively opened youth centre in the heart of Heerlen.

In2YourPlace forms part of LEVANTOgroep. In partnership with SCHUNCK, young people between the ages of 16 and 27, collaborated for a period of seven weeks on a project to produce a work of art. This time, the project was all about Keith Haring.

Mural

The young people really made Keith Haring and his story and imagery their own. They worked very hard on their own mural. Getting from sketches on paper to a mural was not easy. In creating their own designs, they made themselves vulnerable and showed a lot of themselves. At the opening, everyone was festively dressed, ribbons were cut, speeches were given and pizza was eaten. And afterwards, there was the Party of Life.

The mural remains on display at Outpoet; you can look in (or walk in) from Oude Veemarktstraat to admire the mural. Inspired by Keith, participants in the project have set up a drawing club on their own initiative, and there are tentative plans to paint another mural on another wall.
