Aad De Haas Zaal Schunck

Enjoy Aad de Haas - the artist, the human being one last time

The exhibition 'Aad de Haas - artist & human' is on display for only two more weekends. Come quickly to enjoy this free exhibition in the Aad de Haas gallery of SCHUNCK Glaspaleis.

In this exhibition, we take you through De Haas' four style periods using various paintings from the collection and photos of murals. From the 1940s, with doily painted fairy-tale-like panels with fragile figures and everyday objects, through the 1950s - intense brushstrokes in mainly black, red, white and yellow - and the 1960s, full of pastel colours, red contour lines and abstract surfaces, to the early 1970s: the last period of both his artistry and his life. Then he paints more doily again, in rich, intense tones and soft pastels. The theme of eroticism also predominates in this period. The styles from the three previous periods seem to melt together.

Also fun: to give an idea of De Haas' eventful life, Berend Vonk created a comic strip with various highs and lows especially for the exhibition. You will also see the documentary Letters to Heaven by De Haas' granddaughter, Zorba Huisman, for a look 'behind the scenes' of the life of the artist and his family.

Curious? Come and have a look, the exhibition will be on display free of charge until 10 March, Tuesday to Sunday between 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
