The Heerlen Rooftop Project ‘STREETROOF LIGHT’ is designed by PelizziArchitettura.
The existing buildings belong to different owners with a variety of mix-used needs and the actual structural roofs are generally not suited for live load. These premises have pushed the design towards lightness and flexibility. Lightweight, flexible, modular and tailored-suited units are adaptable to both functional requirements and structural limits. The light-weightness allows to carry the minimum structural load and to minimize the restoration cost. The flexibility allows to position the units on the existing load-bearing structure. The modularity allows for adapting the roof units layout in time. The tailored-suited cladding allows to adapt the units to different needs.
