- On May 7 and 8, Hamid Motebassem, internationally renowned musician, will once again give his annual concert together with his students. After an intensive seminar week at SCHUNCK, they will perform Iranian music in the Glass Palace in Heerlen.
This annual concert offers Hamid's students a unique opportunity to gain stage experience and to share the skills and passion they have acquired for the profession.
The program of the concert is composed by Hamid Motebassem and his colleague Samira Golbaz. Traditional melodies of historical significance are played. The advanced students play songs from two albums by Hamid, called 'Winter' and 'A window'.

Hamid Mottebassem
Born in Mashad in 1958, Hamid Motebassem comes from a musical family and has been taught the instruments Tar and Setar by several great masters. In recent years he has mainly introduced Persian music in Heerlen. Pupils from the Netherlands and abroad come to Heerlen especially to be taught by his mastery of these instruments.
After moving to Germany he founded the now world famous Dastan ensemble. Hamid has been organizing special seminars for these instruments and their players for over twenty years. He is also musical director of the Mezrab ensemble. Hamid composes music for the Iranian traditional orchestra and has released many CDs including Bambad, Booye-norooz and Donawazye.
